Whirlpool Cabrio model WTW5500XW1 lid light is lit up and locked

When I turn on my washing machine and push the start button. The sensing light lights up and the lid light is lit up and locked. Then I hear a little noise, the lid unlocks and  then lights up and locks again. Then I hear the noise again. Then everything is silent and the lid lock starts blinking. I have to unplug my washer then plug it back in and turn on the power to the washer to get the lid to unlock.
