I have a Kenmore 80 washer (model 110.23832100) that fills and agitates fine. But after the agitate stage, it starts to click loudly while trying to turn & drain but it can barely move. It is so labored trying to turn that it actually tripped the circuit breaker. If I manually move it to spin cycle, it spins and drains fine. I took the cabinet, drain pump, and motor off and found the coupler to be in good shape so that was not the problem.

The issue with your Kenmore 80 washer could be a bad clutch, defective basket drive, or a defective gear case. Is there a burning smell when the washer is trying to turn? If so is it an electrical smell or rubber smell? Also, where is the clicking noise coming from? The tub area, motor area, or the control panel area? Have you inspected the drain pump for anything that may be stuck inside?
There is no smell at all and there is nothing in the pump. The noise is coming from the tub area. I looked up the clutch and the drive block. They have similar symptoms. Which one sounds more likely to be bad? Is there a way for me to tell if either is bad by looking at it?
Update. I got down to the drive block and it appears to be in good shape without any signs of wear. After running it again, the noise is actually coming from underneath where the motor is and the clicking sounds metallic. Does this narrow it down to the clutch?

Sounds very likely. Are you able to see any signs of wear or any pieces underneath the washer either plastic or metal?
