Washing Machine Not Spinning Consistantly

I have a top loading GE washing machine Model # WHDSR316G5WW.  A couple of weeks ago, I noticed that the clothes weren't being spun to the outside of the washing machine and that they were still pretty wet.  I did Master Reset and it didn't appear to fix the problem.  From there I started trouble shooting and removed the Lid Switch and connected the two leads.  Once I manually did a Master Reset with the two leads the washing machine goes through the spin but only for a couple of loads before it stops spinning again and I have to go through the reset again.  I'm wondering what could be causing the fault...
