The washer agitates properly and appears to fill/drain the tub properly, but it will not spin unless I open and close the lid during that part of the cycle. This happens on every different washing cycle on the timer. I've replaced the timer twice and still no luck.

This would lead us to believe you have an issue with your lid safety switch. It may be working intermittently. Remove and replace the lid switch. $20 bucks on Amazon.
