My Kenmore 110.24872300 is 12 years old. The spin cycle does not work, and I hear a loud fast clicking sound. What is the problem, and is it worth repairing?
12 years is getting up there in age but any appliance can last a lifetime if you simply replace the parts that go bad. If the spin cycle is not operating properly and you are hearing a fast click, it may be that the clutch, transmission, motor, belt or other component is worn, or on the fritz. The only thing we can recommend is to remove power from machine and open the service panel. See if you can find an obvious problem such as something that looks worn out or broken. Do you get a rubber or electrical smell when the washer is running?
