Just moved. Connected washer to proper hookups. Started noticing that water is leaking from underneath the washer when not in use. It doesn't seem to be coming from anything on the back panel, such as the hoses, because i checked them and they were completely dry. Also noticed that my clothes are retaining more water than usual after the spin stops, but no excess water is found in bottom of the washer tub. What is causing this?

You may have a cracked or damaged water drain pump.

Also, the drain hose that hooks to it may be loose.

The water retaining in your clothing may mean the washer is not spinning fast in the final cycle. This could mean a worn motor coupler.

Check the machine pump to see if that is what is leaking. We can give more exact advice if you supply us with your Maytag model number.
