Kenmore Washer Will Not Drain Out Water Still In Tub After Rinse Cycle

My Kenmore (top load) Washing Machine is not draining the water out of the tub. This happens even AFTER the rinse cycle is completed. The lid is closed and the machine is plugged in so it is set to go but keeps NOT DRAINING. My wife told me that something was wrong as the washer was full of water after the washer was done with its cycle. The dial was at the end of rinse and I moved the dial to drain and the machine didn't budge. Is this something I myself can fix? Do I need to call a pro repair company? I checked the hoses and they are not bent. Could it be the timer assembly knob, the drain pipe, wiring, maybe the drain pump? Suggestions?

Sounds like you have a faulty lid switch. The lid switch is probably faulty electrically or has come loose on the housing and the washer lid can't push the button down to complete the electrical cycle. Turn your washer off and open the lid. Use a pointy object and slide it down into the hole where the lid tab goes down through when lid is closed. If you don't hear a click then the lid switch is faulty or fell off of the housing. If the lid switch is broken or faulty, the washer won't spin or drain. A lid switch is cheap and you can even find them on Amazon with free shipping.
