Is my refrigerator compressor bad?

Appliance Repair QuestionsCategory: RefrigeratorsIs my refrigerator compressor bad?

Hi, I have a LG model LFX25971ST that stopped cooling and was making a clicking sound from the rear of the fridge. I called a repair man who changed the start relay and cleaned the coils. He checked the compressor and said it was fine. Before he left, the clicking sound started again, he rechecked and said the compressor was hot and needed replaced and he would order the parts. The next afternoon, the fridge is working fine and has been for 3 days now. So is my compressor bad or should I get a different repair man. Also, he said the cost to replace the compressor was $650.00, is this excessive.
