How to fix washing machine that resets mid-cycle

Hi, I bought a second hand washing machine which seems faulty and I need to know if it can be repaired. How to fix washing machine that resets mid-cycle and does not go through to the rinse/spin stage It fills up with water and goes from long wash to short wash, but then suddenly stops and starts beeping. I am not sure if it properly does the short wash, but it certainly does not go to the rinse/spin stage.  To remove the water, I have to manually set the washer at spin, but then all it does is drain the water without spinning. Is there a possibility to fix this?
