dryer not heating

Anonymous asked 9 years ago
First time the dryer didn't heat, the high limit thermostat went out, I ordered the wrong thermostat, but I really needed clothes dried so I hooked it up directly to the heating element, it worked just fine for awhile, and I forgot about it. Now, the dryer vent hose was clogged, and the wire that was supposed to be connected to the thermostat was melted. I got a new thermostat now, and I rewired the part of the wire that was melted, it still won't heat, and I tried to bypass the thermal fuse with a jumper wire, to see if it was that, it still didn't heat. I have no idea what to do next. It's a whirlpool dryer
