When the machine is "cool" it will drain and spin properly. Once a couple loads of laundry have been done, it will no longer drain and spin. I can hear the motor, but the belt does not engage. If left running like this, an odor of hot rubber will be noticeable. When I notice this odor, I will turn off the machine, let it sit for 2 or 3 hours to "cool" and then turn it on at drain and spin again at which point it will make the motor running sound and then the pump engages and then it begins to spin.
