Defy automaid 600 drum wont turn if clothes in but will if empty

My defy automaid 600 front loader washing machine, the drum will turn during wash and spin during spin cycle if empty and only water in it, but if you add clothes the drum won't turn during washing and won't spin during the spin cycle. Water drains fine.
