Hello, I'm currently dealing with a refrigerator issue and, being on a tight budget, I can't afford professional help. Here's what I've noticed and done so far. The fridge isn't as cold as it used to be, although the compressor seems to be trying its best to cool. The evaporator fan in the freezer is working well, and the back-mounted coils are clean. Occasionally, the compressor makes a loud clicking noise when it starts or stops, but this isn't constant. Lowering the fridge temperature from "cold" to "cool" has somewhat improved the freezer's ability to freeze water. To monitor the cooling efficiency, I'm using an ice pack. Initially, I observed that the compressor was very hot to the touch, not just warm. Using a fan to cool it down has helped it restart. There's also a faint ticking sound when it's trying to kick back on. My guess is that the issue might be with the relay/starter, but I'm hesitant to dismantle it and spend the little money I have on a part that might not be the problem. Right now, I don't have an alternative place to store food. The freezer, while not ideal, is still mostly keeping things frozen and safe. I'm trying to consume the food quickly to avoid spoilage. I don’t plan to unplug the relay until the fridge is cleared out. Could anyone identify the specific relay model needed, or suggest a universal one? I'm located in Canada, in case that's relevant for parts availability.
