Whirlpool Washer Spin Cycle is Not Working

We have a 2011 Whirlpool WTW4850XQ0 Washer inherited from the previous owner of our house. It's been working normal over the past six months or so, occasionally clothes have been a bit damp when the cycle completes, but never been too bad. The machine was making some squeaking / rattling sounds while it spun which was resolved by leveling out the floor (there was a ditch in the concrete). After a few loads of wash that were damp this weekend it appears now that the spin cycle is not working at all - normally a "drain & spin" cycle will take care of any extra water. We've tried unplugging and restarting the washer a few times. We tested again today and when set on a "light" cycle with a single garment in the machine, it will fill up, sounds like it's agitating, and then drains the water. When we opened up the machine, it's as if the garment never moved - it was in the exact same position in the tub as when we started. It's also seemed to take an extra long amount of time to run through the cycle. We have no idea how to troubleshoot what could be the source of the problem, and we'd much rather repair than jump the gun and replace. Any advice is appreciated!!

If your Whirlpool top load washer is filling and draining but not spinning, you probably have a lid lock issue.

This lid lock is a safety device that holds the lid closed while the machine is running.

If it is faulty, the machine will most likely not spin.

Here is a page with the part that MAY be faulty and causing your NO SPIN issue…

http://www.searspartsdirect.com/whirlpool-washer-parts/W10238287/0026/110/model-WTW4850XQ0/1198/0153200.html
