Kenmore front loader stackable. Machine won't spin on regular cycle but spins fine on perm. press cycle. Timer switch operates fine on all cycles, even regular, pacing through the timer clock fine but starts to spin and then immediately stops in regular cycle. I've seen suggestions of a bad timer switch. Can a timer switch be the cause when it completes the cycle and switches the power off? Thank you.

Yes. The timer may have a bad spot on it that is shorted or burned. If this is the case the washer usually will run on some settings and not others. Take the timer out and check for obvious signs of damage. If so remove and replace.
