I have just noticed there is water on the floor after i did a wash load. Before I go through tons of trouble, can someone tell me what to check and where to look first? THANKS!!!

Most likely the "boot". There's a rubber seal that seals around the agitator shaft. It costs about 35 bucks to replace. Open the top of the washer and remove the agitator by pulling straight up. You will see bolts in the bottom. Remove the bolts and pull the "tub" straight up and out. You should see the boot and should be easy to remove it from there.
OR
If water is leaking from under the washer tub then the water pump hose might have come loose, or possibly the 2 water hoses that hook to the back of your washer are loose. Check to be sure they are both tight!
