My brand new samsung dryer will run a cycle, but not get hot. I've had the samsung people come out and look, they say the dryer is fine because it heats up great when it isn't connected to the hose in the back. I've had the vents cleaned through out the house. And it STILL won't heat up when its connected to the hose. Does fine when its disconnected. I don't even know who to call to help me fix this.

When you say hose you mean vent exhaust right? Well if that is the case then the vent exhaust line in the wall is clogged. Or the actual hose from the dryer to the wall is clogged or the diameter is too small. The machine has no way of expelling the heat and will therefore shutoff. This usually results in a bad thermal fuse also. What exactly did the Samsung technician check?

The samsung guy ran the dryer with out the hose, or vent exhaust being attached, while holding a thermometer at the output (where he disconnected the hose). The temp went up to 165 and stayed there. NOT something it had done before. I just had a guy come yesterday and clean out the vent from the house to the outside. I don’t think its a clogged vent, they are all clean now. Could something else be wrong with the dryer?

Just to be sure…. The dryer runs perfectly fine if the vent hose is not attached?

That is correct.

Assuming your dryer does not have a powered blower inside (or does and works properly) that assists pushing out the exhaust, then it is not the dryer. Anything from the dryer all the way to the outside of the house (end of vent line) could be the problem. If you had the Samsung tech and a Vent cleaner tech come out, one of them perhaps did not catch an obvious problem.

However you never did tell us if the dryer was gas or electric……….
