Why does the cold water keep filling, but the hot water shuts off at the correct level? Why does the hot water shut off when it reaches the correct level in this machine, but the cold water keeps filling? I originally thought it was a diaphram problem, but thought that was weird since the hot water shuts off when it gets to the correct level. When using cold water however, it continues to run overflowing the washer.

There is a valve in your washer that lets both hot and cold water enter the machine. How do you know the hot water is turning off and the cold does not? Do you have the machine on cold, warm, or hot water setting? Does the washer just keep filling until overflow and then shut off or does it keep filling until you are forced to shut it off?

Have you tried running the washer on hot water only and turning the cold water off on the wall and observe what happens?

The washer was set to warm, but was only coming out hot. It runs the complete cycle with hot fine, but if I try turning the cold on from the wall, it continues to run until I shut the cold water valve off at the wall. If I dont shut it off, it overfills the washer.

Then the water inlet diverter is probably bad. Access it and see if you can visually find fault. It is electrically operated so you could test with a meter or just buy a new one.
