I have a Kenmore front loading model 70 series washing machine. Age is over 10 years old. (not exactly sure how old). It won't spin or drain during wash cycle. However, it will spin when manually turned to another cycle. Help please. Thanks in advance for any help.

That would mean that there is nothing wrong with the parts of the machine that spins and agitates. You have a control board or timer knob issue. There are many types of Kenmore 70 series washers so either you have a timer knob or a control board interface. If you have a timer knob, it most likely has bad spots on it that will not let the washer spin in wash mode. If you have a control board, then this cant be repaired and you will need to remove and replace.
