Kenmore duet 23022 washing machine smells like electrical burning during spin cycle, then shuts off. Replaced direct drive coupler and agitator dogs. Ran small load no clothes spun and drained normally. Ran again with a few pillow cases stopped on spin and still smells like burning.

HI,Is it more of an electrical smell or a burning rubber smell? Possibly you have a slipping drive belt? The tub is connected to the motor by a drive belt, and when this belt wears out or becomes loose, it can slip, causing a burning rubber smell when the tub is agitating or spinning. This may happen only when the tub is overloaded, and it’s usually accompanied by irregular motion of the tub.-ARQ

I have the same problem with my kenmore series 90 washer. This is a direct drive motor, no belts. Coupler between motor and transmission looks good.  Water pump has no obstruction.  Any ideas to what is causing this?
