I have a Whirlpool WED5300SQ0 dryer. The dryer was heating but not turning. Checked the belt and it's fine. Replaced the fuse and the dryer worked but got extremely hot. Unplugged it and was waiting for my uncle to come check it again. When he didn't after a week I needed to dry clothes so I decided to try it again. Worked for three loads then stopped turning again. However, I noticed during these three loads that the timer would go through 2 cycles before knocking off. Even though the dryer was not turning on the 2nd cycle, it the timer would run through. Also, didn't matter if the door was open or not, the dryer was still getting hot and the timer going. For instance I used the dryer on the 60 minute cycle. It would run through it and then stop turning but the time kept going through the air dry cycle. Then after the three loads I dried the dryer stopped turning again. So I guess I blew the fuse again. What could be causing this problem.

If the dryer runs with door open…. you need to replace door lock latch. If dryer gets hot but wont turn, you may have motor issue. Also you may have a thermostat/element issue. Your dryer needs to be broken down and inspected. It is recommended to not use your dryer until a professional checks it as it is a fire hazard.
